Oakley Schilthorn Open – Massive Swiss Freestyle Action in Front of the Skyline
15.03.2017

8th QParks Tour Stop, 11/03/2017, SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn, Schilthorn/Switzerland

One meter of fresh powder was challenging the shapers of the SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn just before the eighth QParks Tour 2016/17 was about to go down. Challenge accepted – the crew grabbed their shovels and the effort absolutely paid off. On Saturday March 11, 2017 the riders met in the sunny SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn 2,400 meters above sea level to glorify the imposing backdrop with their best tricks.

The previous week delivered a ginormous load of fresh snow in the Bernese Oberland region. This resulted in a big challenge for park designer Andreas Stoll and his crew as the Oakley Schilthorn Open were meant to take place on March 11. With heaps of motivation, a lot of shovel movement and the necessary load of Swiss serenity the guys created a contest line of-a-kind.

Consequently Ändu Stoll seemed pretty satisfied after the contest: “I received very positive feedback from the riders, which made me truly happy after such a work intense day.”

A unique backdrop, goodies from Radix, Oakley, Amplifi, Pinetime Clothing and QParks as well as prize money in a total value of 3,600 CHF was waiting for the Swiss freestylers. Hence a second call wasn’t necessary to get the best out of all freeskiers and snowboarders:

Snowboard Kings & Queens

Amongst the snowboarders 16-year-old Philip Schwan convinced the judges with his skills and came to fame in the face of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Besides reaching the first place he received the title for the Best Trick with a Backside 7 Mute. The second place went to Thierry Greuter, ahead of Simon Buerki.

In the Women’s category local Caroline Höckel reached the first place ahead of Andrina Salis and Tirza Oehme.

Best Grom was Jeremy Bucher followed by Silvan Schaller and Luis Schneuwly.
