15.06.2010Oldschool never dies! Special impressions from the From Rags to Riches Contest
The idea behind the From Rags to Riches Oldschool Contest was to make the Dachstein Opening a little more colorful and indeed there were some crazy dudes who were brave enough to pull over some, well… partly really ‘shocking’ stuff.
One of the oldschool Kings and winner of great Goodies was Nico Pfabe together with his friend Stephan, who also made a good figure on the obstacles! We asked Nico about the opening and how it came that he was wearing such a nice skirt…
Hey Nico! You’ve shown some awful style today, how did you like the Opening?
The opening was really great. I’ve been going there for 3-4 years now and you always meet the same nice people with whom you can shred and spend a brilliant day. The weather on Saturday was just awesome, unfortunately the snow was too slow to jump the kickers, but the new rails and the whole jib setup kept me busy the whole day anyway.
Where did you get the clothes from?
Yes, the clothes... to be honest, I borrowed the jacket from a colleague who bought it once for carnival. I got the leggings for a Bad-Taste Party, but as you could see it found new fields of use. By now it’s already loopholed by the boots and I think I’ll get rid of it soon. I have stolen the glasses from my dad. :)
Why did you decide to take part in the contest?
I participated together with Stephan after we’ve called out the ‘Gaper Day’ at the last day of our Salzburg Super Ski Card for the Kitzsteinhorn on which we were around in these outfits and had loads of fun. Some days later QParks announced the From Rags to Riches Contest and it was clear we had to use the outfits again...
Do you often run around like that?
Definitely I don’t run around dressed like that in everyday life, except for Bad Taste Parties or events like this one, but leggings aren’t that uncomfortable though... ;)
You really deserved your prize. Are you happy about it?
Yeah, I’ve won the leather-boardshorts from Blue Tomato and I’m definitely happy about it, as I already fancied buying it before and therefore it’s just perfect! I also wore it Saturday evening at the party and for sure I’ll put them on for the Oktoberfest and surely for swimming!
Was there a highlight for you at the Opening?
It’s difficult to bring the highlight to a point, as the whole day was a highlight: perfect weather and incredibly warm. The rail-line was superfunny and for sure it’s always THE highlight to go shredding with friends.
Conclusion:
A phat thanks to QParks, they’ve provided a neat park on the Dachstein. You definitely have to go there in summer and the sooner the better, before the snow melts away!
Thanks Nico and hope to see you again up there!
