15.06.2010Ride and Roar Railjam winner Felix Prankl
Felix Prankl is one of the most talented youngbloods of the Austrian freeski scene. Already at the Oberland Open in Fiss Ladis he could show the audience some unique styles, where he made the third place with a broken arm. Again he impressed the judges at the "POP and DROP" jam of the Absolutpark Flachauwinkel series. This weekend he could again stand out at the Ride and Roar Railjam with some die-hard slides and finally the jury rated him the best of one hour ongoing jam with really hard competitors! After the contest, we stood together and talked to him about the jam and his weekend!
Mr. Prankl, what did you expect for the Dachstein Summer-Opening?
A sick park, nice weather, motivated people, meeting known faces and a wicked party!
What’s your résumé?
Simply everything was fine. The park, the weather, the party, just great!
How did you like the new rail-setup?
The setup is really off da hook. The two new rails fit the line perfectly and the entire railline is fun as never before! Big props to the shapers.
You came to the Opening by bus, how was the spirit?
Well, I was in bus with Zuli, but we were not the only ones who spent the weekend like that. Our friends from Hamburg came down especially for the Opening, so we built a little VW-bus camp and had great fun. The spirit was awesome across the weekend, in the valley and on top of the mountain, we enjoyed every minute!
The Ride and Roar Railjam was going on for the first time and you won before all the other freeskiers. Are you happy?
The whole principle of the contest was ingenious. Nobody had to register, just riding. The judges grabbed every shown trick, so you could just shred without any pressure and do as many runs as possible. So if a trick didn’t work too well one time, you just went up again and again until you sticked it! Therefore I was just going for the sick rails and had my fun. In the end I’ve won a skateboard and was really happy about it. A really relaxed and fair contest format, just perfect for such events where fun stands in the foreground!
Thanks for riding with us, Felix!
