15.07.2010The Multi-Cube: special obstacle in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein!
Did you know that special snow obstacles can be recycled? Neither did we, but that’s exactly what happened on the 14th of July 2010. Most of you will remember the Horsefeathers Cube which was built for a special sponsorshoot end of November 2009. If you can’t make up your mind, just check the video and the gallery. After the shooting, this immense cube stood there all by itself for the whole winter, and its destiny was supposed to be fullfilled soon….
Until summer all the cold and recently very hot days left it marks on the building and because of its quite smuddy look, it was meant to be digged away in a little while. Then, all of a sudden, the German TV station ARD/ ZDF contacted the ressort as they needed an artificial ice crevice for filming works on the series „die Bergwacht“. Said and done, a 4 m wide gap was digged through the cube and after the shooting was finished, the thing stood there again for quite a few days when parkdesigner Andi Röck and his crew started to think about something…Can we actually ride this thing?
Andi remembers: „It was obvious that we could make something out of it as the waterslide and the ice cravice were already there and so at first we just had to build one take-off and a landing to actually jump over the gap. More and more ideas came to our minds and after a lot of handshaping and the help of all the riders, the mulitfunctional obstacle was ready to be shredded. Thanx again to everybody for their help!“
Yesterday finally the day had come and everybody was quite curious if everything would work out as planned. „Already the evening before, all the riders were hyped and excited to hit this thing the day after“ remembers photographer Simon van Hal. After some warm-up park laps, many riders like Dani Limmer, Roli Scharmer, Marvin Salmina, Flo Galler, Jasmin Reischer, Christine „Isi“ Szumovski, Heimi and some freeskiers started the session and right from the beginning all take-offs worked pretty well. After some test jumps and Isis BS Rodeo over the gap, the session was finally on and did not stop for the next four hours. „All the riders pushed it hard and had a lot of fun. Wallrides, Gap Jumps, Waterslides, Gap to Box transfers and all at once, it was just really cool to shoot. One of the funniest sessions in a long time for sure“ says Simon.
The Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein is still open and another session is planned! Andi and his crew already have some new ideas and take-offs to be realized, so enjoy the last summer days on the glacier and try the Multi-Cube for yourself!
The first gallery has already been posted, more shots to come on Monday. Stay tuned!
