15.07.2010QParks visitors feature: Not yet pros, even more fun with their GoPro!

As there are so many people going wild on the Dachstein, we thought about taking in material from the community as well. We saw a nice clip on facebook by the two Germans Tom and Daniel that we found worth a feature! These guys really had fun in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein and so they didn´t hesitate to make a cool short movie. We decided to share this little edit with our freestyle fellows. However, we better let them introduce themselves to you and read how they came up with the idea for the clip and what they think about the lovely Dachstein and much more.

Hey Daniel, hey Tom! Can you tell the QParks community a little about yourself, who you are, where you come from, just the ordinary stuff ...

[Tom] Hi, I´m Tom, 25 years old from Siegdorf, Germany. I’ve been to nearly every funpark this season with my skies. However the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein is one of the best spots for parkriders living in my area, that doesn´t need any more words. :)

[Daniel] Hey, my name is Daniel Baumgartner from Munich and I use to shred with my buddy Tom. Actually this year was our first time at the Dachstein, but I´m really stoked about such a great summershred. For that reason we´ve been there for three Fridays in a row to get some footage. I´ve been snowboarding for about 10 years now, but in the past I was used to hang around in the backcountry. Then I met Tom and we started to practice in the park very often together.

How was the idea for making this clip born?

[Tom] When I heard you like my edit, I was really happy. Such a feature the qparks.com is pretty cool for us. To be honest, we had no real “idea” for the Edit, they always appear while I´m cutting. However I´m still a beginner according video cut in contrast to Marinus, a guy from the Freeski-Crew, we met accidentally. He´s more an expert. J The idea with the clip was nothing special. On days with such an amazing bluebird it was kind of normal to take the cam with me. The GoPro is really good for follow shots and to collect some footage, as it gives you mobility and it´s no problem to film some fast passages, even though the speed was not enough for the big kickers. That really was a pity, because it would have been cool to get some kicker shots. But no need to worry, it was great fun anyway.

[Daniel] Right. It´s just normal that we have our GoPro cam with us. If not, we shoot with my foto camera.

What was the best thing for you in this season?

[Tom] What I really like this year is the copy and post competition, it´s simply nice and I contributed a video of my trick. Especially if you haven´t done the trick before, the motivation rises to get a good shot. Of course you have to cut a little clip, but for me it´s more fun than work. Pretty cool idea! Generally, the Qparks offer is so great, special props to the shapers. All the parks I´ve visited were perfectly shaped, among them the DC Area 43 in Passthurn.

[Daniel] I also really like the Copy and Paste idea - would be nice to see these more often! I also like the “QParks-things”, even if I´ve only been to the DC Area and to the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein, but both parks were really great.

What are your further plans for the summer and autumn season?

[Daniel] Our further plans for the summer are going to Schnalstal or Sas Fee to get some more footage and making some nice shots with my new camera, an EOS 7D I recently bought. AND: I’m really looking forward to the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam, I definitely will be there.

[Tom] Hopefully I will have the time to come to the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam too this year.It’s always great seeing such an event. But with a job and university I can’t say yet. However, a day in the snow can never be wrong. J Of course it would be great to have a little freeski-contest as well.

[Tom] … that I was really stoked by the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein, because you even in summer you meet some crazy people, who have as much fun shredding as you do. Greetings to all my mates of the Bloodydolla Fam, the Hoizhüttn Crew and all my other buddys who always care for enough fun and motivation on the mountain.”

[Daniel] … I also really like the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein because it´s the perfect spot for summershredding and the park is always perfectly shaped. All the guys up there are so cool and easygoing. You really can see that everybody up there has fun, no matter if summer or winter, everyone just wants to shred!
