Hey Björn! How are the preparations for the week-long freestyle event Summer Feast proceeding?

The preparations are more or less completed and we can announce a further highlight in the last second: Red Bull will arrive Thursday evening with its event vehicle and a windge to carry out the waterslide contest. That will be great fun!

The Burton testcenter unfortunately had to be cancelled due to organizational reasons by Burton. However, instead there will take place a little Vew-Do Balance Board workshop on Friday and Saturday in front of the hall. So we also get some variety into the program And by now you can watch the Summer Feast Teaser for a first impression.

From July 19^th the snowpark will be closed due to construction works until the event. What can you tell us about the setup?

The setup shall remain a secret, as usual. Sure I can understand the curiosity and impatience of the visitors, but the ones who know our park are aware of an awesome setup.

The Summer Feast offers a full program for one week. However, where have you set the focus in your planning? What was important?

It was important for us to emphasize on the community- and coziness factor and not putting the competition into the foreground. BBQ, movie night, DJ set, fun contests in the outdoor park, skateboard ramp and much more are all event features that underline that. But for sure it gets into it also on Saturday with the snowboard and freeski contest.

What is the speciality of the Summer Feast in the SNOW DOME Bispingen?

For sure, the speciality of the event is the extraordinary opportunity to camp. There’s the phat funpark inside the hall, similiar dimensioned parks are found rarely in outdoor areas. And think about it, we offer it in midsummer at a time without snow! Furthermore it is a great meet & greet with the scene and friends from the mountains. Barbecuing together in front of the tents, meanwhile watching the others jibbing in the outdoor park or trying it out yourself, making party, getting to know new people and so on.

We also receive more and more requests from Skandinavians or people from East Europe who have heard of our event and want to visit us. Therefore the „family“ is constantly growing and we’re happy about it!

There were some requests and comments in the guestbook about the entrance prices. How can the composition of the ticket charges be explained?

Well, that’s always a delicate topic... I can understand that it is a high amount for a pupil to pay € 269 for a ticket. But if you look closer it really isn’t that compared to the things you receive – it’s like a one week all-inclusive holiday. Camping area, 7 days entrance in a perfect park and you even get top quality breakfast and meals. Additionally there is all the free stuff like goodiebags, fun contests, party, skateboard ramp etc. If you just compare it to the prices of a one week ski ticket in the mountains, this is a unique offer.

Unfortunately there are always a few exceptional cases, who think they have to bumble through the entrance without paying. As these incidents have increased, we now use a observation camera, like we’ve done already at the Spring Weekend. Cheaters are sent home without exceptions and a report is made due to trespass.

Summing it up it doesn’t make sense to cheat, as we will hand out wristbands that will be controlled at the park entrance. So it’s easy, without a valid wristband you won’t get into the park. Just buy your ticket and have fun!

All minors who want to participate at the event or contest have to bring an agreement form from their parents. Why and what would happen, if they forget about it?

Many parents seem to forget that we’re not an assisted youth camp. We too have to act within the general terms of the law for the protection of the youth. That means if a minor arrives without his parents at the Summer Feast, we need an allowance. Even more important is that they are in company of an authorized person appointed by the parents. It’s the same principle as on a class trip with school at which a teacher is appointed to take care. Without an authorized person we can’t allow minors to linger at the area after 22 or 24 o’clock. The rules are not made up by us but from the legislative body. Therefore, I again want to remember all the minors to download the consent form (for minors/for adults) at the park website and send it to us or take it with you to the event. You can avoid a lot of stress and worries!

How will the highlight of the week, the contest on Saturday, go about?

On Friday between 17 – 18 o’clock as well as on Saturday between 9 – 10 o’clock the participants can sign up for the contest at the entrance area of the SNOW DOME. At 11 o’clock the riders meeting takes place where all the riders are informed about the course of the competition. At 12 o’clock we’ll start with the Open Jam Session lasting for at least 1,5 hours whereby our judges will choose the best riders for the finals. Afterwards there’s a break of an hour before the best riders start into the finales in the categories Snowboard Youth (until 16 years), Men (from 17 years up), Women as well as Freeski.

The main prizes are snowboards from Santa Cruz, as well as freeskies from Atomic. Besides we will hand over a trophy to the winner. Other prizes are tickets for the area 47 in Sölden, skipasses for Sölden and back protectors.

What are your personal expectations for the Summer Feast 2010?   

Certainly that everything proceeds as planned and that the weather’s fine. If it is so, I’m convinced it will be an awesome event with loads of fun and a relaxed atmosphere. I wish that all people go back home and say what a great week it was - that it was worth it and that they are already looking forward to next year.
