19.01.2012Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn - THREE TIME’S THE CHARM!
Red Bull Shr3d: 3 days of creative snowboarding with Marc Swoboda (AUT), Marco Smolla (GER) and Markus Keller (SUI). The goal – produce a 3-minute clip at Kitzsteinhorn. Applications for team-mates can be sent until January 25th.
The Roman Empire was at its most powerful in the decades it was ruled by a triumvirate, and for some a whole religion has sprung up around good things associated with the number 3. For the superstitious, the figure has enjoyed an almost magical role from the beginnings of time. The number will be put to new use when snowboarding mixes its typical style with creativity for the Red Bull Shr3d challenge.
3 teams with 3 riders from 3 countries are to compete over 3 days to fulfil 3 missions. The grand result of it all will be a 3-minute video clip. That’s the basics of the Red Bull Shr3d. Teams headed by Marc Swoboda (AUT), Marco Smolla (GER) and Markus Keller (SUI) will be completed by two other Shr3der snowboarders, who can send in videos to compete for the three open spots in the teams. The two chosen riders will then join the pros from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As the 3 musketeers said, it will then be a case of all for one and one for all, in a battle for national honour and glory.
The 3 crews will have to contend with three unique challenges over backcountry, slope style and urban settings. Equipped with just a film crew, a map and a shovel, the snowboarders can allow their creativity to run wild over 3 days. Locations need to be spotted, kickers shovelled into place and drops found. All the while tricks and moves need to be performed for the cameras.
At the very end the teams will present their 3-minute clip to a jury of 3 people (of course). One of the three places on the jury is reserved for everyone at the official party at the Burg in Kaprun on Saturday evening 11 February. Along with the tricks and style of the snowboarders, the work of the video clip will be checked out and assessed (for cutting, composition and camerawork). The winners will ultimately get their hands on a top-quality prize. The whole party will then see another international contest, on-stage, as 3 bands from 3 countries vie for their attention. The party will then heat up even further with help from DJs Phekt & Trishes and the FM4 Tribes Vibes. Anybody who wants to have a go at shredding with Marc, Marko and Markus should come along on Saturday 11 February to the Open Shr3d Day on Kitzsteinhorn.
Tips will be given by the pros on pipe & park, backcountry or on-rail snowboarding. All kids and youngsters (anyone born between 1993 and 2005) can also get a "Power of T(z)en" special offer for Kitzsteinhorn lift passes. The youngsters can get a day pass for just € 10.-. This offer is available every Saturday until the start of May.
