Being internationally renowned the Vans Penken Park Mayrhofen has been established in the scene as the ultimate freestyle El Dorado. With the new Pro Area including 3 huge kickers, the level now has risen again! The challenging set up convinces pros from near and far, no wonder as action and limitless fun is offered! Freeski pro Patrick Hollaus has checked out the Pro Area. Prior to the upcoming Mayrhofen Freeski Open next week, the freeski pro took part in a shooting last week and told us what to expect.
No worries that any freestylers will be bored in the Vans Penken Park in Mayrhofen. The park, especially the pro area, is one of the top addresses for freestyle pros from around the world. In particular, the 3 giant kickers with the massive airtime provide a lot enthusiasm and lure freeski pros to the park again and again!
Patrick Hollaus, Mayrhofen local, is at least twice a week in the Vans Penken Park and with 10 years of freeskiing experience he knows exactly what’s important: "What makes the pro area of the Vans Penken Park so special is that you can have 3 runs within 25 minutes – and that’s what all riders love! In addition, the park seems to be even bigger this year so there are even more and better opportunities to shred!“
The creative set-up of the Pro Area includes a kicker line with 3 jumps with 16, 18 and 20m tables as well as a rich supply of rails. Patrick tells us: "My absolute personal highlight is the fat 20m kicker! But also the diverse offer of rails makes the park so special!” The rail line in the Pro Area starts with a down-flat-down rail 12m, followed by a 16m down rail, a S-Box 10m, a 6m staircase and a wall ride. And in the end section of the park a monster is waiting to get shred: The fat Multijib “Beastbox”!
Such a wicked variety promises also thrilling days during the Mayrhofen Freeski Open. Europe's best Freeskiers are already about to begin! From February 8th to the 11th the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and Nordica Freeskiers invite everybody to experience the best extreme sport athletes in an extraordinary slopestyle contest. Over 80 participants coming from 12 different nations are confirmed and they are going to show their skills in the Vans Penken Park in three categories: Open Class, Girls and Rookies. There also Patrick will have to give his very best, because the competition will be tough. Patrick states, “Of course I want to be among the first in the ranking, but the Mayrhofen Freeski Open is such a pumping event in itself so the most important thing is to take part!”
As you can see there is endless shred action offered! So it’s not surprising that the professional elite turns it’s runs in the Vans Penken Park Mayrhofen that often. To awake the anticipation: Check out the freeski clip, and the gallery from the shooting!
