A bluebird freestyle-dream – Blue Tomato Plan P
06.02.2023

55 participants, bluebird, fine setup, fat tricks and steezy vibes only. That's how the Blue Tomato Plan P can be described in a nutshell. With perfect conditions the QParks Slopestyle Contest, which was organised for the first time in cooperation with the ÖSV and the FIS, celebrated a great 2023 event kick-off. Find the most important information and results here.

On January 29th, 2023 the Superpark Planai in Schladming provided the perfect backdrop for the freestyle party at the start of the QParks Slopestyle events. With bright sunshine, the day started at 9 a.m. with the practice runs. This was followed by a first rider meeting where the shredders, who travelled to Schladming from six different countries, were welcomed and briefed by the judges and the event team. After a fine reshape, the slopestyle fun started with the two qualification runs.

The Contest Line

The shape crew and the park designer gave everything in the last few days to present the contest line in perfect condition. They succeeded in doing so, as all riders voiced their praise. "The park and the setup were really great and really in a strong condition. I'm already looking forward to the next Plan P," one rider revealed to the event crew during the lunch break.

At the beginning of the line, two kickers provided fat airtime tricks. This was followed by a multi-jib, where the shredders had to decide between an industry flat, an industry down and a donkey out rail.

After the first two runs, the chill area called for a relaxed lunch break with fat beats, tasty sandwiches, snacks and drinks provided by Blue Tomato and Red Bull as energy boosters. The speaker, who also hosted events such as the X -Games Aspen, created an incredible atmosphere and at the end of the lunch break announced the eight riders who would enter the grand final.

Finals on Fire

Snowboard

Three whole wins in the snowboard category were dusted off by Mika Schweizer from Germany. In the Snowboard Groms & Men category, he climbed the podium and took home the award for best trick with a BS Cork 720 Blunt. For the 16-year-old snowboarder it rained money, as well as nice prizes from Pinetime, TSG, Boardriding and Blue Tomato.

Jascha Nuñez (AUT) came in 2nd among the Snowboard Men and Damian Millinger (DEU) took 3rd place.

The snowboard shred queens also put their foot down. The two sisters Hannah and Sophia Karrer from Gleisdorf made it onto the podium together for first and second place. Mimi Spitzer rocked third place. All winners enjoyed the finest goodies from Pinetime, TSG, Boardriding and Blue Tomato.

Last but not least, in addition to cash and goodies, the riders also dusted off many points for the World Snowboard Points List & FIS points.

Freeski

Adela Krcalova from the Czech Republic rocked the podium of the Freeski Woman category with 80 points and thus also got to take home new skis from Atomic and Cash. Wanda Svancer (AUT) took 2nd place, Sarah Schönach (AUT) third. Both also collected great prizes from Pinetime, TSG, Boardriding and Blue Tomato.

Hannes Baumhöfer from Germany climbed to 1st place and also cleared Atomic skis and prize money - with almost 86 points. Andre Walkner from Austria came second with almost 82 points. Mario Klötzl won the Best Trick Award with his "leftside 720 blunt" and also took third place in the Men Freeski category.

The freeskiers also collected additional points for the ÖSV Freeski Ranking, the Styrian Championship and the FIS Points List.

One for the books

And so a wonderful day in the freestyle paradise of Schladming came to an end. Top weather, good vibes and motivated kids made for an all-round successful Blue Tomato Plan P.

“It was back in the 90s. We were fanatic snowboarders, constantly roaming the surrounding hills, building kickers wherever possible. Bad Religion and NOFX were blasting from our battery-powered cassette player. With our camcorder, shovels and boozy tea we had everything we needed and it was a damn awesome time.”
