Deal or No Deal? Only the best tricks count at Shred Poker Diedamskopf 2024
27.03.2024

On Sunday, March 17, 2024, around 25 motivated riders from near and far once again showcased their skills and went all in at Shred Poker at Diedamskopf! The freestyle scene was gambling for chips in the Diedamspark, and to find out exactly how it went down at Shred Poker 2024, read on here:

Steezy Spring Sessions at Diedamskopf were in full swing over the weekend as the freestyle community from Vorarlberg gathered for the annual Shred Poker highlight in the Diedamspark on March 17, 2024. About 25 motivated riders were present at the session, predominantly locals who warmly welcomed new faces and pushed each other. Around 10:00 am, the first riders gathered for registration and warm-up. Following that, at just after 11:00 am, the Riders Meeting commenced to inform all shredders about the Shred Poker's proceedings and everything worth knowing about the setup. This setup was truly impressive: The shape crew led by Ruben Rillig spared no effort and conjured up a nice multi-obstacle setup with a down tube, a down rail, two diagonally placed butter boxes, and the highlight, the volcano with a lollipop in the middle. This made the setup playful overall, but certainly tricky to shred.

After all riders had warmed up with their first laps, the poker game kicked off at 11:30 am. As riders hiked the multi-jibs, they discovered more and more of the obstacle with each run. Most notably, the corners of the volcano saw the nicest tricks and the most chips collected. The shredders impressed the entire crowd with their finest tricks, creating a breathtaking freestyle atmosphere in the Diedamspark. About an hour into the game, this year's Shred Poker was overshadowed by an accident when one of the riders sent it a bit too hard. The competition was initially halted, but event leader Julian Teufel decided to end the contest once the injured rider had been taken care of. Prize-giving and barbecue were brought forward, flexibly reshaping the day's schedule.

After the session, the earned chips could be exchanged for cash and nice goodies, with participants able to enjoy items from GoPro, Nitro, TSG, Boardriding, QParks, and the Bergbahnen Diedamskopf depending on their chip earnings. Highlights among this year's highly coveted prizes included TSG goggles and a GoPro backpack. After the winners were crowned, the day continued with good beats and a relaxed chill and grill with a BBQ buffet, powered by Panoramarestaurant Diedamskopf. From steaks to grilled cheese, salads, and baguettes, there was something for all riders of the day. The atmosphere was slightly subdued due to the earlier fall, but nevertheless, all poker faces could exchange stories about the nicest tricks in a relaxed atmosphere and end the day on a positive note.

“It was back in the 90s. We were fanatic snowboarders, constantly roaming the surrounding hills, building kickers wherever possible. Bad Religion and NOFX were blasting from our battery-powered cassette player. With our camcorder, shovels and boozy tea we had everything we needed and it was a damn awesome time.”
